Talk about bunny rabbits, Ba-Ba black sheep or even Jack and Jill... The ninth annual Toy Fair at the Ice Skating Rink has them all, perhaps in more variety and forms than ever before. The fair, which began on May 17, is a five-day affair.
The fair has been specially organised to rope in the young customers who are presently enjoying their summer vacations. Lob Gupta, CEO, Fun Toys, and president, West Bengal Toy Association, said, “There are a total of 37 stalls. The best thing about this fair is that children can play with the toys without having to buy them.
While some of the stalls flaunted the all-time favourite blond Barbies, others were happy doing up their front tables with pink and white teddies.
“The soft toys are the most in demand. And it’s just not kids alone who ask for them. Even teenagers want to have one stuffed toy. So this time the Fun Toy stall is giving a major discount in this section, said Gupta.
He added that although at times parents don’t feel comfortable giving these toys to their children because of their allergic properties, specially made stuffed toys have been brought to the fair this time which are made of polyester fibres and are light and non-allergic.
“The prices are very reasonable. Even a big stuffed teddy bear or a tiger is priced for not more than Rs 299, said Gupta.
However, the prime attraction was the jumping, whistling monkey that had every child gurgling with laughter.
